Training of Child Protection Committees at Busuma Camp

Spring Communities, in collaboration with the government of Burundi and supported by UNICEF Burundi, organized a training session for members of the newly selected Child Protection Committees (CPCs) at the Busuma Congolese refugee camp in Ruyigi province.

The event was graced by the presence of the Advisor to the Minister in charge of National Solidarity, demonstrating the importance placed on child protection within refugee communities.

In each section of the camp, seven members were selected to form the CPCs. The training aimed to help them better understand their role in promoting and protecting children’s rights.

Participants were made aware of children’s rights, different forms of violence and abuse, and the procedures to follow to identify, report, and refer cases requiring intervention.

Through this initiative, Spring Communities and UNICEF Burundi reaffirm their commitment to the protection of refugee children and the promotion of a safe and protective environment for every child.
